Welcome to the Breathe Soon Blog

 In Nutrition, Stress, Wellness

For a long time after my diagnosis with Crohn’s disease, I felt like I was constantly sprinting, desperately trying to find a way to “fix” my health issues. Stress mounted quickly as no solutions revealed themselves, and I increasingly felt out of control. Months passed, and I decided to make some radical changes. I started taking karate lessons for the first time in my life and while those didn’t stick around long-term, I did learn a lot.

One of the things that really stuck with me was something my sensei said during lessons: “breathe soon!” This was an abrupt phrase, usually shouted as my face began to redden with exertion. But I didn’t intepret it that way.

Since my diagnosis, many people had told me to “breathe” or “take a breath.” But in the face of a rather serious diagnosis, pausing to take a breath seemed insane and impossible. I just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t make myself do yoga, I couldn’t make myself relax, I couldn’t take a breath.

But what I could do is breathe soon. Somehow, removing the immediacy resonated with me. I didn’t have to relax right now this minute, I needed to do it soon. Suddenly, the pressure was off. And I started to realize that when I stressed less, my health improved.

The programs offered at Nourish Integrative Solutions (such as the Breathe Soon Blueprint package) were born out of a combination of my own experiences, and my training as an integrative clinical nutritionist. In the coming months, you’ll see portions of Breathe Soon program reflected on this blog.

If you’re willing to share your own Breathe Soon moments, drop me a line. I’d love to hear from you.
